500 Hour Teacher Training


This 500 hr training combines our 200 hr experienced practitioner course and our 300 hr advanced teacher training, awarding a 500hr teacher training certificate upon completion.

After the initial 200 hrs, trainees will:

Know how to count the full primary series with Sanskrit vinyasa count and asana names

Have a foundation in the history of yoga philosophy and practice

Know the foundations of the ashtanga yoga practice: tristana, vinyasa and bandha

Know the different learning environments

APAF Practice and Teaching Methodology

Lead the opening and closing chants

Know how to guide a simple breathing practice

Know how to guided a progressive relaxation

Be assessed on teaching online classes

Be assessed on teaching an ashtanga flow

Know how to count a full primary series, 

Know how to work with beginners

Be prepared to join the 300hr Teacher Training

Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide is 500hr Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance. Completion of this course will qualify you to become an RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance.


The Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide 500hr Teacher Training has both in person modules and online courses. The 200hr experienced practitioners course offers foundational skills for new teachers and advanced practitioners. Trainees then join the 300 hr Teacher Training for advanced work. All graduates from Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide schools graduate with eligibility for a 500hr Yoga Alliance certification. Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide does not offer a 200hr teacher training certificate.

The cost of the program is $5500.

After you submit your application, you will be contacted to set up a phone interview. When you are accepted into the program a $500 dollar deposit will hold your spot. The full amount is due in order to begin your course work.

The application process will favor those who plan to become yoga professionals and there will be writing assignements and competency assessments throughout the training process.


Faculty:

Trainees will be provided support from teachers who are knowledgeable and recognized for their expertise. All trainees can expect support from staff in meeting the course requirements. We will also provide forums for peer to peer support.

Greg Nardi, 500 E-RYT, your lead trainer spent 23 years specializing in the Ashtanga yoga system and spent more than 15 years studying annually in Mysore, India. He was formerly an authorized level 2 teacher at the KPJAYI, but resigned his authorization to work on developing the practitioner centered approach to teaching asthanga yoga that you will learn in this course.
